International Congress 2005 - Conceive, Believe, Achieve!

From 25/8 to 5/9, AIESEC in HONG KONG MC team were in Agra , India attending International Congress 2005, together with over 500 delegates from over 90 countries and territorities.

IC 05 is an attempt at creating an amazing self-driven & enabling learning environment for us to be in search of ourselves and the organizational directions.

From the traditional activities, like Global Village and Personal Reflection time , and Learning Networks Day , we had a better understanding of the state of our living world and how we, as individuals, can contribute to the world developments.

Our strong understanding of the current state helped us to envision the future of AIESEC. Not only did we define the new role of AIESEC and AIESEC 2010, but also checked the organizational health in 5 AIESEC sub-systems, say Exchange Management, People, Information Systems, Structure and Finance.

Next, led by AI team, we all agreed it is important to implement our winning formula, Strategic Trianlge, on the ground level, to ensure AIESEC Success in the Year of Execution.

In addition to serious discussion around organizational development and future directions, there were a number of leadership development and skills sessions, like Developing Leaders Day and AIESEC University, to facilitate our own learning and personal development.

In Asia Pacific Growth Network Day, GN board members and 14 MCPs sat down and eventually come up with a single strategy for the whole GN in the coming 3-year, which is “Entrepreneurship Learning Network” connecting all AP countries. It is a core strategy to develop our brand, drive @XP implementation and leverage external opportunities in AP.

In general, we, MC team and 5 LCPs, got a more in-depth understanding of the future of AIESEC in IC 05. And we are ready to share our impact, Good Cases Practice, ideas or inspiration with you all.

Our New Identity! The Brand New AIESEC IDENTITY!!!

Along with the change of global environment and AIESEC XP implementation, we find t he context of the Identity Change today is different than the one in 1999. Today we need to refresh our identity to reflect what we are and what we do to fulfill our ‘role' in society, as well as to reflect our aspiration as organization for the present and the future .

With intensive discussion in IPM, AI Office, Steering Team meeting and IC, our new identity was finally released and legislated.

The New AIESEC IDENTITY:

A. Vision: Peace and Fulfillment of Humankind's Potential

B. Role: Our international platform enables young people to discover and develop their potential to provide leadership for a positive impact on society.

C. CoreWork: AIESEC provides its members with an integrated development experience comprised of leadership opportunities, international internships and participation in a global learning environment.

D. Values: Activating Leadership, Enjoying Participation, Striving for Excellence, Demonstrating Integrity, Living Diversity, Acting Sustainably

E. Nature: AIESEC is a global, non-political, not-for-profit organization run by students and recent graduates of institutions of higher education. Its members are interested in world issues, leadership and management. AIESEC does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, creed, religion, ethnic or social origin.

We, as AIESECers, should constantly remind ourselves of our identity, link it to our daily work and with AIESEC's vision and purpose for the world.

AIESEC International Information Systems Long-term Planning Process

Do you feel extremely frustrated when u see the Big Exclaimation Mark when you're using AIESEC.net?
Did you count how many seconds/minutes you have to wait for uploading a single word document to your community?

In light of the recurring problems with the capacities of our systems and increasing the ability/flexibility of our systems to align to our organization strategy, we decided to start the Long-term Information Systems Planning Process.
The Key Areas to address for the Long-term plan are as follows:

1. Long-term Costs for Running IT Systems (maintaining, developing, scaling-up)
2. Long-term IT Alignment Plan to AIESEC Strategies (physical AIESEC vs Virtual AIESEC)
3. IT Governance in AIESEC (Centralization of Services, Costs, Accountability-Reporting Mechanisms)
4. Capacity Management and Control Mechanisms of IT (Human Rerouces, Costs, System, Infrastructure)
